Waterloo & South Bank: Community Space Strategy

With local partners, Lambeth Council is beginning the development of a Community Space Strategy for Waterloo and South Bank, which will explore opportunities and mechanisms to both secure new and future-proof existing community infrastructure in the area.

This work builds on the Waterloo Station Masterplan completed in 2024. The key aim of the work is to make sure that community infrastructure is properly planned for, protected, and strengthened as the area continues to develop, and to inform future growth and development. These key insights will also feed into the upcoming Lambeth Local Plan review which will be launching soon.

Working closely with local communities, partners, and stakeholders, we are gathering insights about:

• who lives and works in Waterloo and South Bank,
• what community spaces and facilities currently operate in the area,
• and how these support different groups within the community.

As part of this, we’d love to hear from residents and anyone with a connection to the area about their experience of community provision in the area, what they use, what is most valued and what might be missing from the area.
