Visioning The Cut
Phases
Visioning The Cut
Lambeth and Southwark Councils have launched a new, exciting Vision for The Cut
We are working to make The Cut safer, cleaner and greener, and to create a place which serves residents, workers and visitors.
The new vision has been commissioned by Lambeth and Southwark Councils and designed by We Made That. It explores a range of exciting futures for The Cut, based on six key principles:
- Celebrate it
- Car-free it
- Activate it
- Green and blue it
- Connect it
- Night and light it
An online survey ran between 2 February and 2 March 2026 and received 51 responses. To see more about the feedback to each proposed intervention, and which key principles are the priority for residents, please see our report below. All feedback provided during this engagement will be collated and reviewed by officers. What we learn through this process will help shape concept designs for the ten individual sites.
Where needed, the concept designs will be subject to further rounds of engagement. Lambeth and Southwark will also continue to work with local partners such as the WeAreWaterloo Business Improvement District, the Old Vic Theatre, the Young Vic Theatre and Southwark College on these proposals.
We will continue to provide updates on this project on our HaveYourSay page.
The Cut Vision will now be used to bid for funding opportunities, such as unlocking Section 106 contributions from local developments and inform future changes to the area.
