This two-day programme invites the local residents, businesses and community groups to explore, imagine, and shape the future of Voltaire Road through participatory workshops, storytelling, and creative expression.

Saturday 14th December

FRUITS: Story Trees

Time: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM Location: The Bridge Clapham, 8 Voltaire Rd, London SW4 6DH

FRUITS is an interactive public art project by the queer design duo Christopher Gerhardt and Corbin LaMont. Using Fruit Trees, portable display structures, this initiative showcases posters collected during the FRUITS Street Lab, capturing the thoughts, emotions, and ideas of the Voltaire Road community. On this day, the FRUITS Street Lab will activate Voltaire Road as a participatory space for dialogue, where residents and passersby can contribute reflections and aspirations. These contributions will fo part of the Reimagining Voltaire Road report.

The Story of Voltaire Road: Objects, Memories, and Futures

Time: Session 1: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Session 2: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM Location: The Bridge Clapham, 8 Voltaire Rd, London SW4 6DH 

This storytelling workshop invites residents and business owners to co-create a shared narrative of Voltaire Road. Through personal objects and memories, participants will reflect on themes of identity, belonging, and transformation, envisioning a collective future for the area. These insights will contribute to shaping a healthier, more inclusive public space.

Creative Workshop: Patterns of Voltaire Road

Time: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM Location: The Bridge Clapham, 8 Voltaire Rd, London SW4 6DH 

In this creative session, architectural designer Akmaral Khassen will guide participants in exploring colors, textures, and patterns that reflect the essence of Voltaire Road. Residents, community groups, and business owners will collaborate to create visual representations of themes that represent encounters along Voltaire Road.

Sunday 15th December

Special Guest: Voltaire Road Edition

Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Location: The Railway, 18 Clapham High Street

Special Guest is a unique open mic event where the audience becomes the speakers. For this Voltaire Road edition, residents, business owners, and community groups will share stories, memories related to experiences along Voltaire Road. From heartfelt anecdotes to quirky talents, this event offers a space for creative expression, laughter, and connection.

How it works:

● 60 seconds to shine: Participants are invited to take the mic and share anything they like.

● Supportive atmosphere: Listen, clap, and cheer for your fellow community members.

● Unforgettable moments: Expect true stories, hidden talents, creative ideas, and much more.
