Prescott Place Reimagined Timeline

Lambeth Council aims to enhance Prescott Place, creating a destination that supports local businesses and provides space for people to meet, relax, and travel actively. We seek to celebrate local history and champion inclusivity, creativity, and accessibility.

What are Re-Imagined Streets?

Across the borough, we have identified streets where the community comes together. Residents and businesses have shared that there is potential to make these spaces safer for walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling and more enjoyable for everyone.

Each of these spaces is unique, and our improvements—incorporating feedback from the local community and businesses—will reflect this uniqueness.

How can I share my views?

Pre-trial data collection & engagement

1 October 2024 - 19 January 2025

Pre-trial data collection & engagement

Before we design Prescott Place Reimagined Street trial, we first learn about the neighbourhood and its community.

We speak with residents, businesses, community groups, and protected groups to understand their lived, local experiences. We collect data to assess current street and environmental conditions, and we consider the project's impact on equality.

Evaluating effects on equality

Lambeth Council is committed to becoming a borough of equity and justice, with a transport system that is fair for everyone.

For each of our Reimagined Streets projects, we think about how it will impact different groups of people, so we can advance equality and remove barriers for protected groups. This process is called an Equalities Impact Assessment. It’s a legal requirement and an important part of how Lambeth makes decisions. What we learn from this report helps shape our engagement and design choices.

As we gather more information throughout the project, we may update our Equalities Impact Assessment to incorporate these insights.

How we engage

As part of our engagement, we go out and speak to the local community to make sure their views are represented. We hold in-person events, hold discussions with local ward councillors, carry out online engagement and letter drops so the public can stay informed and their feedback taken on board.

Collecting pre-trial data

Before we design a Reimagined Street, we collect pre-trial data. This helps us design the trial more effectively and provides a baseline for comparison once the trial is implemented. With this data, we can make informed decisions about the trial's future, including whether to continue, make changes, or remove it.

The kind of data we collect will depend on the objectives of the Reimagined Street.

For Prescott Place Re-Imagined , some of the data we collect may include:

  • Pedestrian, cycle, and traffic levels and speed
  • Emergency service data
  • How parking spaces are used in key areas
