Lambeth Housing Estate Electric Vehicle Charge Points - Batch 2

We’re pleased to advise that the Council have been successful in securing Government grant funding to expand our Electric Vehicle Chargepoint (EVCP) network on Lambeth Housing Estates .

The installation and operation of EV chargepoints forms part of our work to enable the transition to cleaner transport, which will improve local air quality and reduce carbon emissions.

What’s happening?

We are planning to install 44 new EV chargers across several estates this year, with work expected to begin later this summer.

While we know that only a small number of residents may currently own an electric vehicle, we want to ensure that everyone has the option to switch to a cleaner, greener vehicle in future. Providing convenient access to charging points is a key step in supporting more sustainable travel.

The EV chargepoints that we are proposing to install are dual-socketed 22kWh fast chargepoint, with each chargepoint serving two vehicles at any one time. The proposed locations for the chargepoints are listed in the linked newsletter and shown in the linked drawing file.

To coincide with the installation of the chargepoint, it is also proposed to create 2 dedicated EV recharging bays. The introduction of EV recharging bays will prioritise kerbside space for EV users to make it easier for them to recharge their vehicles. The bays will operate at all times and would only be for use by Estate residents who are actively recharging their EV, allowing a maximum stay of 4 hours.

To ensure we maintain adequate clear footway width for pedestrians it may be proposed to install the EV chargepoint in the carriageway.

Next step

You will be advised on final locations following the outcome of the consultation.
