Consultation report

13 January 2026 - 11 February 2026

Dear Residents,

Following investigations as part of Lambeth council’s normal tree management practices, this Chitalpa (Summer Bells) tree has been conclusively implicated in subsidence related damage to property. We received three submissions to the consultation in favour of the retention of the tree. After full review of evidential reports supplied by third parties, the tree will regrettably be removed in order to prevent further damage.

Please note that as part of our policy to not remove healthy trees wherever possible, all other reasonable mitigation measures, such as a crown volume reduction, were attempted. In this instance they have been unsuccessful and therefore the tree must be felled.

Subject to available funding, we will consider tree replacement planting with a low-water demand species after a time period allowing for ground levels to stabilise.
