Careline Service
Lambeth Council is seeking views on a proposed change to its Careline service. The service supports people in their own home through assistive technology such as pendant alarms.
The survey is open to Careline service users, as well as, their family and carers.
The consultation will run from Monday 2 June to Sunday 31 August.
Proposed change to the Careline service
It is proposed that the Careline service no longer provides a response service to alarm activations. Support will still be provided 24/7 by the monitoring service over the phone should an alarm be activated. This will include a call to the emergency services if the operator feels this is required as well as notifying next of kin or a nominated carer who has access to the property.
Reasons for the change
- On average less than 3% of alarm activations result in a home visit by Careline staff per year
- Where a visit is deemed necessary and takes place, in most cases emergency services are also called and in attendance
- We are aware of a number of other boroughs reviewing this element of the service to make best use of Council resources
