What We’re Delivering

We’re tackling mental-health inequalities and youth isolation in Brixton by building a powerful, youth-led creative programme that grows confidence, belonging and wellbeing - from the classroom, to the community, to the big screen.

Our three connected strands:

1️⃣ Weekly Rap Clubs (School & Youth Support) – safe, culturally relevant spaces in two Brixton schools + youth centres where young people (especially Black, low-income, care-experienced and marginalised students) develop confidence, coping skills and creative leadership. Funding adds extra sessions + creative leadership sessions so more young people can shape the work.

2️⃣ Community Street Cyphers – free, open-access rap cyphers across Brixton🎤 connecting youth and community, creating positive alternatives to risk and reducing social isolation.

3️⃣ Youth-Led Film (Voice & Advocacy) – young people co-create a film exploring mental health, identity and inequality. The process builds confidence and purpose; the finished film + live screening 🎥 spark conversation and community healing. Production spend stays local, supporting emerging creatives and Brixton businesses.

🎯 Who It’s For

• Young people (13–25) in Brixton (and Peckham) facing mental-health barriers and social inequality, alongside the wider community.
• Especially Black and mixed-heritage youth, young people in or leaving care, those from low-income households or with insecure immigration status.
• Emerging local creatives and early-career filmmakers seeking real opportunities to develop skills and earn income.

💥 Why This Matters

Brixton’s young people are creative and resilient but face some of London’s highest levels of stress, disconnection and limited access to safe creative spaces. Youth Unmuted offers a preventative, joyful approach to mental health through culture.

• 💬 Amplified Voice: Stories from young people influence local schools and services, shaping a healthier culture of expression.

Spit Game and Rap Club Productions C.I.C already run 20+ weekly Rap Clubs across London and Birmingham, and have produced BAFTA-festival-selected, award-winning films. We combine professional expertise with grassroots trust - young people design, deliver and lead every step. Backed by BBC Children in Need, and Youth Music, our track record proves we turn resources into real impact.
