Thrive Together: The Williams Wellbeing Project

Amount Requested: £15,000

Thrive Together: The Williams Wellbeing Project is a new, community-led wellbeing programme designed to transform how Brixton residents engage with mental health, resilience, and connection.

We are reimagining traditional youth clubs and community centres into modern Wellbeing Hubs, safe and culturally relevant environments where children, young people, adults, and older residents can come together to heal, learn, and grow.

Brixton faces challenges around mental health stigma, youth disengagement, financial stress, and loneliness. Many residents find existing services inaccessible or not culturally aligned with their experiences. Williams Wellbeing bridges that gap by bringing free, local wellbeing sessions directly into the heart of Brixton, addressing mental, emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing under one welcoming roof.

Over 12 months, the project will deliver free wellbeing workshops and events across trusted community venues in Brixton. Sessions will include:

Children’s Wellbeing Clubs (ages 7–12) developing emotional literacy, mindfulness, and creative expression.

Youth Circles (ages 13–25) providing safe spaces to explore relationships, digital balance, and confidence.

Adult Wellbeing Workshops (ages 26–59) covering stress management, financial wellbeing, and co-parenting skills.

Elder Connection Sessions (ages 60+) offering mindfulness, storytelling, and gentle movement to reduce isolation.

Intergenerational Healing Events bringing families together through shared cultural celebrations and wellbeing days.

Sessions will be led by qualified facilitators, therapists, and life coaches who reflect Brixton’s diverse communities, ensuring every participant feels seen, represented, and understood.

To strengthen impact and accessibility, the project will introduce a structured referral pathway where GPs, schools, and local partners in Brixton can refer individuals and families who may benefit from wellbeing support. This joined-up, multi-disciplinary model complements existing services. Each participant will follow a guided wellbeing journey from referral through to completion, working alongside professionals already involved in their care. This framework will allow Williams Wellbeing to act as a bridge between statutory services and community-based wellbeing, ensuring no one falls through the gaps.

The project is aimed at Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities, people on low incomes, young people in or leaving care, unpaid carers, and those living with multiple health conditions. These groups often face barriers to traditional wellbeing or mental health services. By creating accessible, stigma-free spaces within Brixton, we empower residents to prioritise their wellbeing, build resilience, and form lasting support networks.

We aim to reach more than 250 Brixton residents in the first year, with outcomes used to support the creation of a permanent Brixton Wellbeing Hub as a long-term pillar of community support. The £15,000 will cover venue hire, facilitators, materials, refreshments, outreach, and evaluation, ensuring sessions remain free and accessible to those who need them most. This pilot will deliver high-quality wellbeing sessions for Brixton residents, gather measurable outcomes, and establish a scalable model for wider South London delivery in future phases.

Williams Wellbeing’s long-term vision is to uplift South London by nurturing soul, culture, and community through holistic, intergenerational wellbeing, starting here in Brixton.

Together, we can make Brixton a place where wellbeing belongs to everyone, where children grow up emotionally intelligent, adults feel supported, and older residents feel seen and valued.

Vote for Thrive Together: The Williams Wellbeing Project and help us build a stronger, healthier, more connected Brixton community for generations to come.
