I’ve lived in Streatham for over 20 years and only recently I realised there was a car park at this location. Lets build homes for people. Around the area, we barely can drive /use of cars restricted inside the roads anyways. However,it should be affordable homes and not privately rented.

@Rosemeri Link Who’s fault do you think it that we can barely drive/ use cars. Those in charge at Lambeth council currently lack any common sense and have been making negative changes that have impacted communities across borough. I do not trust them to build affordable homes due to their greed and the rise of HMO’s have destroyed family communities across the borough. I have no faith in the current members of the council

The reason its usually empty is because in the past lambeth council have closed it early and peoples cars have been locked in. It happened to me. Also have a look at the sign for car park in leigham court road. It points in opposite direction.
They want to build 92 flats in the car park and also demolish Dorchester parade and build more flats there, 110 new flats in total. Have a look at the type of flats they want to build. Also check out the developer. They should repair the hundreds of empty properties they have first. The car park is used by people visiting the GP Surgery. Also shoppers to co op, marks etc. lambeth have deliberately mismanaged the car park and streatham Hill doesnt have the infrastructure to deal with 110 more flats.

Keep the car park, as one of its users it will be a shame to lose it and you may also find that a lot of people are not actually aware the car park exists. Until I started going to the barbers, I was not aware there was even a car park. People opting to have homes built there will not even be able to afford to live in any of them. People need to start waking up, we already have issue with HMO’s which Lambeth and their greedy pockets have messed up perfectly good areas with these schemes

The car park is usually empty. Let’s use it to house people. More people living locally will boost local businesses.

This should remain as a car park in order to support local shops and businesses in the area. Lambeth council are always talking about regenerating areas within the borough, keeping this car park is one way to do it. Parking availability is very scarce in Streatham. Housing availability is problematic across London as a whole, hence why Authorities like Lambeth should concentrate on bringing empty dwellings back into use, there are approximately 100,000 across London.

@K A the car park is always virtually empty. Go and have a look. People don’t use it and it’s been like this for years. We need more homes for people to live in. There’s lots of other places to park and plenty of disabled parking.

@B Mann Please show us the places where we can park but half of the road around the area you can’t access due to LTN’ s and other restrictions. All LTN’s across Lambeth should be scrapped. The council has created more pollution by doing this and are now creating an absolute mess on the high road which now also affect local businesses

There is a long history of Labour Lambeth hating cars and wanting to close roads and facilities to them - the result of which is more congestion and damage to businesses and residents. This is just another example in a long list. Only way to change this is to vote Labour out in May.

@Matt Williams inconvenience to yourself is not the same as data. study after scientific study shows that the ONLY way to reduce congestion and pollution is to close and reduce car access in places where alternative accesses exist. Usage increases to fill capacity, across the world, except in singapore where it costs a million dollars to licence a vehicle and there's a 10 year waiting list for the privilege.

@Matt Williams I agree with you, sick and tired of Labour and their attack on drivers . They have been creating more traffic across Streatham, Brixton and Clapham. Their time is up. I also think people within Lambeth council need a clear out as well
