Highphunk - The art of difference

From "THINC Fund: Powering Ideas for a Healthier Brixton"

Go to the project

Highphunk is a dynamic, volunteer-led collective based in Brixton, Lambeth, committed to uplifting and celebrating neurodivergent individuals through creativity, community, and inclusion. Founded by a close-knit team of eight friends, many of us proudly neurodivergent ourselves. Our shared vision is simple but powerful: to create safe, expressive spaces where people with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, learning differences, and other forms of neurodivergence can be seen, heard, and celebrated.

We believe that every individual has something valuable to contribute. At Highphunk, we strive to showcase the talents, voices, and creative energy of those who are too often overlooked or misunderstood in conventional settings.

Neurodivergent people frequently face social isolation, stigma, and limited access to inclusive cultural or artistic opportunities. Traditional creative spaces can feel overwhelming or inaccessible, leaving many feeling disconnected from their community and stifled in their self-expression. Highphunk exists to challenge that status quo. We offer an alternative: vibrant, sensory-considerate, and welcoming environments where neurodivergent individuals of all ages can engage in music, art, dance, spoken word, storytelling, and more.

Our events are co-created with the community and designed to nurture self-esteem, joy, and connection. We’ve seen the impact first-hand! participants leave our events feeling inspired, valued, and empowered. However, as interest in our work grows, so too does the need for financial support to continue expanding our reach and refining our offering.

Highphunk has delivered a number of successful community events that showcase the creative power of neurodivergent individuals. Our immersive parties have featured live DJs, musical performances, visual art, and sensory-friendly design. Through our growing Instagram presence, we’ve built an online platform that not only documents our events but also raises awareness about neurodiversity. We aim to bridge understanding between neurodivergent and neurotypical audiences, encouraging empathy and dialogue through creative storytelling and shared experiences.

Our efforts have resonated deeply, with each event seeing increased attendance, broader community engagement, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants and supporters alike. Following the success of our recent September launch event, we are now planning a special Christmas celebration to bring together our community once again. This event will serve both as a joyful close to our first full year and a stepping stone toward larger-scale programming in 2026. With your support, we aim to continue providing accessible creative spaces, while growing our outreach and impact across Lambeth.

We seek funding to support  the production and delivery of our upcoming events, and to invest in the infrastructure needed to sustain our collective’s growth. This funding will go toward venue hire, DJ equipment, accessibility needs, security personnel, a qualified first aider, and materials for décor and creative workshops, ensuring that each event remains safe, inclusive, and inspiring for everyone involved. Highphunk is more than a collective — it’s a grassroots movement grounded in compassion and creative empowerment. Your support will help us continue to foster a community where neurodivergent individuals can thrive, build confidence, and shine in their full authenticity.

Together, let's build a more inclusive and diverse creative landscape in Lambeth and beyond. Everybody has something to offer!

Neurodiversity is a gift and deserves to be celebrated. It all starts with a voice.
