🛼 We’re bringing Empowr CIC’s recognised roller-skating energy to Brixton!
For the past four years, we’ve delivered fun, safe and inclusive sessions across Lewisham — trusted by local councils and community partners to make skating accessible for all. Now, we want to bring that same energy to Brixton through our Empowr Sk8 Skool & Roller Skating Programme — a mix of family roller discos, children’s classes and adult sessions that build confidence, fitness and connection. Movement is medicine — and we’re on a mission to help our communities roll toward better health, happiness and inclusion.
Empowr CIC is a Community Interest Company that promotes wellbeing through movement, connection and experiential learning. We’ve delivered hundreds of inclusive roller-skating sessions in Lewisham — from family roller discos to children’s lessons and adult skating classes. We’re trusted by local councils and community organisations to deliver free and low-cost skating programmes that make active living accessible to everyone.
Our new Empowr Sk8 Skool & Roller Skating Programme in Brixton will bring that same community impact to local residents through a year-long series of sessions designed to improve both mental and physical wellbeing.
What We’ll Deliver:
Family Roller Discos: Fun, affordable events where parents, children and friends can skate together in a safe, inclusive environment.
Children’s Skating Classes: Teaching balance, coordination, confidence and teamwork through play and guided learning.
Adult Sessions: Creating space for fitness, freedom and stress relief — a positive alternative to the gym that strengthens community connection.
All our sessions are inclusive; however, providing free sessions will allow us to better engage local families, young people and adults from Brixton’s diverse communities, particularly those from low-income backgrounds or facing barriers to regular physical activity.
Our roller discos will include access to skate hire and protective gear, ensuring everyone can take part — even those without equipment.
Roller-skating promotes both physical and emotional health by combining movement, rhythm and mindfulness. Our sessions reduce isolation, boost mood and encourage confidence through collective energy and joy.
Empowr CIC is known within the skating community and has served hundreds of skaters through free and low-cost sessions across South London. We’re proud to bring that same inclusive, high-energy experience to Brixton — creating a space where movement builds wellbeing, confidence and belonging.

This funding will ensure the Empowr Sk8 Skool & Roller Skating Programme in Brixton runs safely, accessibly and consistently throughout 2026.
It will allow us to:
• Keep entry costs free for those who need it most.
• Provide all necessary skates and safety gear.
• Deliver high-quality, structured coaching led by experienced skate community coaches.
• Create a vibrant, welcoming space that promotes both physical and mental wellbeing.
By removing financial and practical barriers, this project will make healthy living and movement truly accessible for Brixton residents & community in a fun engaging way.
Expected Outcomes:
• Engage 400+ participsnts through regular sessions.
• At least 60% participants from priority communities (low-income, ethnic minority, or those facing health barriers).
• 80% report improved wellbeing, confidence or social connection.
• Strengthened community networks and improved access to healthy, active lifestyles.
