We are working on a feasibility study for a 'gateway' or sign to welcome people from Nine Elms Station into Wilcox Road and Little Portugal.

Following on from the first event at the Day of Portugal on 13th June, our team is visiting local businesses and running a series of pop-up events in Wilcox Road. Click below to find out about upcoming events, and look out for our team in the coming weeks.

About this project

Oval, Vauxhall and Stockwell are home to ‘Little Portugal’ with a high density of Portuguese-speaking businesses and communities. Lambeth Council is committed to celebrating and supporting Lambeth’s Portuguese-speaking communities and has commissioned CarverHaggard, a local design and research practice, to support the Welcome to Little Portugal feasibility study.

The feasibility study is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Our team is exploring design options for a 'gateway' sign and wayfinding for Little Portugal, which could be delivered in future if Lambeth secures funding. Other recently completed projects in this area include:
